Soundb is an audio-technology and music publication — gear reviews, industry news, music criticism, and Soundb Learn's production lessons. It's a small, focused operation, not a large newsroom, and this page is where we say exactly what that means in practice.
Soundb covers the gear, software, and industry stories that matter to people who record, mix, and produce music — plus a growing library of hands-on lessons under Soundb Learn, from signal flow basics through mixing and mastering.
We started the site because most gear coverage online is either a rewritten spec sheet or a paid placement dressed up as a review, and neither actually tells you whether a piece of equipment is worth your money. We try to write the review we'd want to read before spending our own.
Soundb is published by Meraki Recording Studio, a working recording studio in New Delhi, India. The studio is the registered entity behind the site, the merchant of record for every payment taken here, and the source of the hands-on testing behind our gear coverage — the microphones, interfaces, monitors, and outboard gear we review are the same equipment used in real client sessions, not units borrowed for a week and sent back.
Gear reviews on Soundb are tested and written by Siddharth Mitra. Reporting, editing, and production across the rest of the site is done by Meraki Recording Studio's team. We're a small operation and don't claim otherwise — every published article states its author, and a desk byline ("Soundb Editorial") means the piece was reported and written in-house rather than by one named reporter, not that it went unreviewed.
A product marked Reviewed on Soundb has been used at Meraki Recording Studio, not just unboxed — real tracking, mixing, or monitoring sessions, over real time, before we write anything about how it sounds or holds up. Products we haven't yet had hands-on time with are listed with their real, sourced specifications and pricing, and are clearly not marked as reviewed.
We deliberately don't publish a numeric score or a star rating. An earlier version of the site did, and the underlying category ratings behind it were never actually measured against anything — a synthesized average presented as if it were data. We removed it rather than keep a number that implied more precision than we had. What you'll find instead is a plain editorial verdict — Essential, Recommended, Decent, or Skip — which is a real call made by whoever tested the product, at the resolution human judgment actually works at.
The "How It Compares" table on a review page draws from real competitor specifications, not editorial opinion; where we haven't confirmed a figure, the row says so rather than guessing.
Music reviews are written after actually listening to the release, not generated from a press kit — where we quote sales or streaming figures, we cite the source (Billboard, Luminate, Spotify's own reporting) rather than asserting a number. News coverage on industry and gear stories links to and credits its primary sources; where a story is our own reporting or a studio-informed take rather than someone else's, we say so directly in the piece.
Soundb Learn's lessons are written from real studio practice at Meraki Recording Studio, not repackaged from other courses. Some lessons are free to read; more advanced ones are part of a paid plan — a locked lesson's preview is the actual opening of that lesson, not a teaser written separately from it.
If something we've published is wrong — a spec, a price, a fact, a broken link — tell us at contact@soundb.org and we'll fix it. A correction that changes the substance of a piece is noted in the article itself, not made silently.
Soundb carries advertising, including Google AdSense and, on some pages, direct sponsor placements — every sponsored unit is labelled Advertisement in the page itself, and a sponsor link is marked rel="sponsored" in the page's source. Sponsors have no input into what we write or how a product is scored.
Some links to buy gear we've reviewed are affiliate links: if you buy through one, Soundb may earn a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. Whether a specific link is an affiliate link, and which retailer it points to, has no bearing on whether we recommend the product — the verdict is written first, independent of whether an affiliate relationship with that retailer exists. See our Cookie Policy for how advertising cookies and personalisation work, and our Privacy Policy for data handling generally.
